I Long for Old San Antonio #FGS2014

Last night, I was reading the special events page of the FGS2014 Conference website.

Those that know me exceptionally well, are aware that I am a big history buff. So, when I found the tagline, “A Night in Old San AntonioI went to check it out.

Remind me not to do that again … I WANNA GO!

*stamps foots and begins pout/rant*

Texas Caviar, fajitas, quesadillas, chalupas, salsa … Oh, bother! I’m hungry, now.

Hey, if I pay for 2 tickets, can some of that stuff get doggy-bagged up here? *fingers crossed*

MiLady then looked over my shoulder. She was interested in the Tequila Margaritas and Sangria (?)  Neither of us were sure how to pronounce that. Nostalgia came to the rescue and said it’s Sang (past tense of Sing) Ria.

My wife and I exchanged fleeting glances and smiled. Nope, don’t think so, we thought.

Returning her eyes to the monitor screen, “That’s sounds yummy!” MiLady asked, “Where is it?”

“Texas,” I replied.

“Oh, I’m sorry, Dear’st,” she said before she kissed my head. “Maybe next year.”

“But, I’m hungry, now,” I whined. My stomach growled loudly for emphasis.

MiLady smiled and shook her head. “I see where the Boys get it from.”

“Yes!” I answered proudly, “They know good food. And the plate servings are bigger in Texas!”

A look of concern bordering curiousity, adorned my girl’s face for an instant. “I know I shouldn’t ask, but … Why is there a buffet in La Villita? What does it have to do with genealogy?”

That was a good question!

I stared blankly at her for a moment or two, then I smiled wide.

“A Taste of Our Heritage!” I announced, twirling her in circles to the lively little ditty I hummed, trying to emulate Mariachi music.

“You’re not Mexican, Silly,” she cornered.

“I would be for that night, if we go,” I hinted.
