Still recovering from Christmas
Thoughts turn to New Year’s Eve;
Making plans for genealogy
With Hopes many believe —
To find their brickwall relatives
And photos of them too;
Then linking up with distant cousins
That they never even knew!
But GenChat friends are gathering
One last time this year;
To talk about everything
That they hold so dear.
Like reclusive Uncle Ephraim
Or great great Papa Ross;
And his Civil War Pension Records
That all say have been lost!
They talk about the weather,
Motherhood and tots;
Who should read aloud the phone book
(If he’s from Sleepy Hollow or not!)
Then they bounce around ideas
To help each other about;
From far and near, their messages clear
Until the hour is timed out.
